Gardening

We've been having brilliant weather this week - perfect for gardening. I am a keen gardener. There's nothing I enjoy more than getting outside and offering my help and expertise on any gardening matter. Unfortunately my help is not always appreciated, but I keep trying.

I find it hard to understand why I get yelled at when I grab the end of a large weed that has just been pulled up. To me its the perfect opportunity for a game of Tug 'o War, but no one else seems to see it that way. So today when SWMBO (She Who Must Be Obeyed) was removing lovely, tall dried sweetcorn plants from the garden I did my best to help, first by digging a hole as She pulled, then by grabbing the roots and helping to carry the darn thing to the compost heap. All I got for my pains was a whack with the sweetcorn stalk.

I did amuse myself by pouncing on every little lizard I could see sunning on the rocks. Not that I caught any, but the reaction from SWMBO was not at all pleasant. She has this thing about lizards and frogs being pounced on. I've had many a slap on the rump for no good reason.

Just yesterday He was digging in the veggie patch and I was doing my best to help by getting my nose right in there where the fork was going in, when He nearly stabbed me. And I was the one who got yelled at, when He was the one who nearly murdered me.

Some days it is just so difficult being a dog.

Hmm, I'm sure I saw something moving in there.

Drat!  I missed it. There was a lizard on that rock.

Oh well, there's always tomorrow.
